• How To Use – FOR CORDLESS  DRILL USE ONLY Place the blade on the shelf against the sharpening drum and operate using a standard cordless drill  An impact should NOT be used as the percussive action on some impact models can cause damage to the arbor. Maintain a steady speed between 2,000–3,000 RPM and apply light but firm pressure, allowing the tool to do the work. Sharpening time will vary depending on blade type and composition

• About Multitool Blades Most multitool blades are made from relatively mild steel with a thin heat-treated or coated cutting edge — and in some cases, a few brazed carbide tips. The hardened layer is only microns deep, so once the teeth wear or overheat, that hardness is gone. When you see the steel turn blue, it’s a clear sign the temper has been lost and the material has effectively softened back to its base state.

After that, you’re essentially cutting with low-carbon steel that dulls almost immediately. The “carbide-tipped” label often misleads people — the bulk of the blade isn’t carbide at all, and once those tips are gone it behaves no better than a standard blade. That’s why multitool blades are notorious for short life spans: they cut well when new, but after a few tough cuts or heat cycles, the metal structure simply can’t maintain its edge integrity.
